“There are wounds that never show on the body that are deeper and more hurtful than anything that bleeds.” ~ Laurell K. Hamilton, Mistral’s Kiss
You can take a person’s belongings, you can take a person’s money, you can even take a person’s clothes off their back and leave them in the flesh, with nothing on them but their pride…but take away what a person has in their heart and you’ve taken all you can take from them. Not all people need belongings, money or clothes on their backs but what a person holds in their heart…what a person truly cares about in this world, in this life… is what is in their heart. Those other things might seem like they matter…they might seem important at one time or another but when you really stop and think about it, when you really stop and ask yourself the hard questions, those things are not important at all, they are just things that take up your time and energy but which are fillers in your life. To lose the things which you have in your heart… which you hold in your heart….that hurts more than anything in this world and even when you try to pretend like those things don’t matter, that you can live just fine without them, BUT you can’t pretend with yourself…well, you can pretend with yourself for a little while, but not forever…so when you are ready to deal with the truth and to let your true feelings come in through your heart, then you will know what true emptiness, sadness, and loneliness are all about…from that point forward everything you do has meaning, and you will never again let yourself be the shallow, unfeeling person you had been before…..your whole life is forever changed…if only it felt that easy when it first happens…you just have to allow yourself to open up…allow yourself to feel….
